Cobalt counselors use the most effective treatment models that have been proven over the years in clinical studies. This means that your therapist is not tied to one style of treatment, but will structure your treatment to meet your individual needs. All of these techniques build their foundation in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. (As explained below)
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT):
Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy focuses on the role of thinking in relation to emotions and behavior. It works on the assumption that changing thought errors will lead to improvement in mood and behavior. CBT helps the client replace thought errors, poor coping skills, inappropriate behaviors and emotions with more positive ones; this is done by examining and correcting the client’s way of thinking about and reacting to certain situations.
What issues can CBT help?
CBT has proven effective in treating many different problems including: stress, anxiety, depression, phobias like agoraphobia and social phobia, panic attacks, eating disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), obsessive Compulsive disorder (OCD), bipolar disorder and psychosis. CBT can also help people struggling with low self-esteem, anger and even some physical health problems.

10. How long will treatment last?
Treatment at Cobalt Counseling depends on the individual. Throughout treatment the therapist will work closely with you to hear your concerns, make a diagnosis, and formulate a clinically validated treatment plan. The therapist will ask for your insight regarding your goals and your treatment plan, because no one knows you as well as you know yourself. The therapist will monitor your progress; if you are unable to meet your goals within the appropriate time-frame then adjustments can be made to customize your treatment. Sometimes extensions are essential to helping some clients to make a successful recovery. You will work closely with your counselor to continue receiving a level of care that is appropriate to meet your needs.
